It’s pretty fantastic how different I feel before and after a run, no matter the length really. I just ran about two miles maybe even less, but I still feel better than before I left, actually much much better.

And my half marathon is on Sunday! This Sunday! That means in 6 days. It snuck up on me!

Now, honestly, I am beat and I just want to lay in bed, but I do feel incredibly accomplished.

A few months ago I couldn’t run two miles, now I am up to nine. The half marathon is only about three weeks away, 13.1 that day.

I will fight through anything to finish. No matter what, I am going to finish that run, hopefully around my time goal.

After all the running last week and the wrong shoes my body gave out. I knew I was pushing it too hard, so it took a break. A three day break, which was tough because I got so used to working out 6/7 days a week. Today, I got new shoes, real running shoes, before I just had random nike training shoes that I bought to work out in, but after the way my body was feeling and research I realized it was time for actual running shoes.

I only ran about two miles today, but I have to get back in slowly. Tomorrow I will do 3 miles and Friday to stay on our training schedule we will do 8 miles.

1 month and 2 days until the half marathon!

Even though I already signed up for my half-marathon, this will be the first one I am running. I am really excited. I have never run any race and I am doing it with one of my best friends, one who I always envied her dedication to fitness.

I know my half-marathon will be 20+K, but this 5K will be good training for the big thing.

It will be a wonderful way to spend my early Saturday morning.

And today I am feeling it. Also I cross-trained today, so I hope I am really making progress in the fitness section.

Today was a big day, a few huge things became official. First, my study abroad to London and then trip around Europe flights are booked, also I just registered to run my first half-marathon, I have been training for it, but now it is official.

Both of these things are for me. Yesterday my aunt asked me who/what organization I am running for and I replied, “I’m running for me.” I set this goal and now I am working to achieve it.

Also, London has been a dream of mine for quite some time. I am scared and nervous of going, but I made that my dream, so again I am going to achieve it. 2+ months on my own, somewhere I am unfamiliar with, without anyone I know.

I will come out better after both of these experiences.

We did a two mile run, outside, in southern weather and now I have sports bra/tank top tan lines on my back.

Tan lines mean summer started!

It was so nice for a change of scenery during my run, I have a glorious place to run in Chicago, but it is a nice change of pace to do it here.
It was also great to have Derek as my running partner, I love who I usually run with but it was sweet for us to do it together.

Sunday: ran 4 miles

Monday: ran 3.5(give/take a little) miles

Tuesday: ran 2 miles

I’ve started to really love running.

I am training for a half marathon in 10.5 weeks and thus far I haven’t run that far or that fast. It was a 12 minute mile and only three miles, but it is progress for me and I am so proud of myself.

I always thought I was unathletic, when in actuality I never tried. Now I am trying and I am progressing.

I will finish 13.1 miles at a 10 minute mile pace. I’m going to do it.

Today is a good day.

One of my best friends and I have decided to start running, like really running. He signed up for the marathon October and we are both signing up for the half-marathon at the end of May. I will be running 13.1 miles in one shot. So we started training and working out and my body is killing me.

We both decided to do this for ourselves. I want to prove to myself that I can set my mind to something and achieve it, so I am going to. 13.1 miles to run. I will do it.

Just about everyone we have told we are doing this has said things like, “You?!” and “Do you know how long a half(in his case full) marathon is?!”

We know what we are signing up for. We are going to accomplish this. I am so proud of us starting this journey.

104 days until the half marathon.
